Crease mark
A crease mark is a kind of large fabric defect or quality problem. It is a type
of wrinkle effect that results in subsequent fabric processing, especially in
dyeing and other chemical processes. This kind of crease mark can present even
in the final clothing products, it does not even remove the iron. If the fabric
stays the same for many days in a folded state or is pressed under something
heavy for a long time or twists under the influence of something, the fabric
gets creased or folded. These are the everyday and casual things of textiles.
Many beautiful fabrics are ruined due to crease marks, and many garments are
rejected due to this, even if the shipment is omitted.
Why crease mark comes in fabric or garments?
i.
If the dyeing machine fabric is given in overload.
ii.
If more cycle time is given than required in dyeing and finishing machines.
iii.
Bow expander if set incorrectly.
iv.
If there is a difference in fabric heating and cooling rate.
v.
If the construction of knitting is very tight.
vi.
If the thread has a very twisting tendency.
vii.
Woven fabric crease marks fall more than knit fabric.
viii.
Lycra fabric has more creases among different types of fabrics.
ix.
Selvage clothes that are tight have more creases.
x.
If the bearing is broken in the oven fabric salvage machine, the lycra creases
due to roller up-down and high temperature.
xi.
Up-down in air pressure will cause a crease because the pressure of the roller
padder will be more or less.
xii.
The crease will fall on thicker fabrics than thin fabrics.
xiii.
In denim fabric, long-time reserve fabric or garments may come with crease marks after wash.
Xiv.
Using excessive sizing materials can cause a crease mark in the fabric.
xv.
Inadequate preparation, relaxation, or bulking of fabric
xvi.
Poor quality of the fabric, a tight construction, high twist yarns, or dense
weight
xvii.
Incorrect loading of fabric into the machine, resulting in the twisted or knotted
rope, resulting in a crease mark may come in the fabric.
How to remove a crease mark from the fabric?
i.
Soak the fabric for a while and wash it continuously. It has a 50-60% chance of
crease removal.
ii.
Lycra cloth should be dyed after heat setting.
iii.
The fabric can be re-mercerized. This is a very effective method. This removes
85-95% of the crease.
iv.
If the shade of the fabric does not change, the anti-crease agent can be given
by stenting in the double padder. About 80% of the creases are removed in this
process.
v.
If the fabric is ready for dye, then deep shade dyeing can be done. Because the shade of the fabric is deep, the crease is not visible.
vi.
If the crease is not removed in any of the above processes, then the fabric has
to be stripped and re-padded and re-dyed again.
vii.
The roller is bypassed so that all the rollers come to the front crease.
viii.
Tension needs to be increased, the tension roller has to be turned off and the
fabric has to be run.
ix.
If the crease comes from the expander roller of the stenter machine, it has to
be run properly.
x.
Finishing should be done by increasing the width of the fabric but the level of
the crease will be reduced.
xi.
In denim wash, use good quality softener in de-sizing time.
xii. The washing process should be run by increasing the amount of water.
