How many sunnah of drinking water?

Water is one of the blessings of the great Lord Almighty. Human life is impossible without water. Because the source of all life on earth is water and we all depend on water.

Allah did not create water just to satisfy human drinking needs. Water is an important tool in various works of creation. Besides, food and drink, movement, employment, business, and trade will all be acts of worship for the people when these acts are done in the Islamic way.

For example, food and drink are essential for human survival. It is also necessary to drink water to sustain life. Another name for water is life. There is no substitute for drinking water to save lives. All creatures have to drink water in order to survive.

And there are some Islamic rules and procedures for people to drink water. Although the work is small, people have to drink water many times a day. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself used to perform certain deeds while drinking water.

These deeds of the real-life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) have come up in the narration of Hadith.

Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran, ‘And I have created all living things from water, yet will they not believe? (Ambia 30).

Allah Ta'ala further said, ‘Have you thought about the water you drink? Do you bring it down from the clouds, or do I send it down? It is salted if I want. Yet why do you not show gratitude? (Waqiah 67-70).

Allah Ta'ala has used water in the creation. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an that Allah has created all living beings from water, some of them walk on their stomachs (snakes), some have two legs (humans) and some have four legs (animals). Allah creates whatever He wills and he is almighty. '(Surah: Nur: verse: 45).

Elsewhere Allah says: Do not the unbelievers think that the sky and the earth were closed, then I opened them both, and I created from water every living thing? Will they still not believe? (Surah: Ambia, verse: 30).

Almighty Allah gives enough water for human sustenance and fruit production. Without which no fruit would have been produced.

Allah says: The Holy One has made for you the earth as a bed and the sky as a roof, and has rained down water from the sky and produced for you fruits as your food. So do not set up equals with Allah. Indeed, you know all this. (Surah al-Baqara, Ayat: 22)

It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Sahl ibn Sa'd that he said: A cup was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He drank it to be. Then there was a young boy on his right and old men on his left.

He said, O boy! Will you allow me to give the rest of the water to the elders? He said, O Messenger of Allah! I will not give priority to anyone other than me in getting virtue from you. Then he gave it to her. (Muslim 36/17, Hadith 2030, Ahmad 22887).

May Allah grant everyone the tawfiq to follow and imitate the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in everyday work. (Amen)
