The reasons why Ramadan is so important
Ramadan
is a month rich in the blessings of Allah and the golden opportunity to get
close to Him. This month is known as the spring of prayer and worship of the
believer. The affection and interest of the believers towards the month of
Ramadan are unlimited. The dignity of this glorious month is immense.
The month of Ramadan: Allah Almighty has fixed the month of
Ramadan for such an important period as fasting. This is enough to make the
month of Ramadan dignified. Allah says: “So let those of you who are in this
month fast in this month. (Surat al-Baqara, Ayat: 185)
The month of the Qur'an: Allah Almighty has revealed the Qur'an,
the last and greatest book for the guidance of mankind in the month of Ramadan.
According to the Qur'an, Ramadan has been recognized as the best month. Allah
says: ‘The month of Ramadan, in which the Qur'an has been revealed as a clear
guide to mankind and a guide to truth and a distinguisher of truth. (Surat
al-Baqara, Ayat: 185)
Lailatul Qadr month: Lailatul Qadr or the Night of Power is
better than a thousand months. A thousand months is 83 years and four months.
This glorious night is in the month of Ramadan. Allah says, Behold, We revealed
this (Qur'an) on the Night of Power. ‘And do you know what the Night of Power
is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. On this night the
angels and Ruhul Qudus [Gabriel (peace be upon him)) descended (to the earth)
with every good thing at the command of their Lord. (This night) Total peace,
which continues till Fajr. (Surah Qadr, verses 1-5)
The month of opening the
door of mercy: In the
month of Ramadan, the doors of God's mercy and paradise are opened. The gates
of hell are closed. And the accursed and disobedient Satan is chained. All this
is a blessing of the month of Ramadan. Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘When the month of Ramadan
comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed. And
Satan is chained. (Bukhari, Hadith: 3103; Muslim, Hadith: 2547)
The month of Forgiveness: Allah Almighty bestows the month of
Ramadan for the forgiveness of His servants and deliverance from Hell. It is
very sad not to be able to get the forgiveness of Allah by taking advantage of
this opportunity. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Messenger of Allah, May Allah bless
him and grant him peace, said, ‘Let the nose of that person be gray with dust,
to whom even after my name has been uttered, who do not get darud. Let the nose
of that person be gray with dust, to whom the month of Ramadan comes, but his
sins cannot be forgiven. Let the nose of that person be gray with dust, who has
found his parents or one of them in old age but they have not been able to
admit him to Paradise. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3545)
The month of Doa acceptance: Doa is accepted during the month of
Ramadan. Fasting doa's are not returned. Many hadiths have been narrated about
the acceptance of fasting prayers. Narrated Jabir (Ra): The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Allaah saves countless people from Hell
every night and day of the month of Ramadaan. And the prayers of every Muslim
are accepted. (Shuabul Iman, Hadith: 3605)
