The love of Allah in Islam
And
of mankind are some who equate [others] with Allah. They love them as they
should love [Allah]. But those who believe are stronger in the love of Allah. (Surat al-Baqara, Ayat:
165)
The
believer loves Allah the most. Because they know Allah the most, know him the
most, respect him the most and believe in him as the one and only Lord.
Believers
love Allah because they know that Allah is their most merciful guardian, He
provides for them and protects them from danger. That is, it is faith and
belief that motivates the believer to love Allah. On the other hand, the love
of Allah gives the believer the fullness of faith. The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘He who possesses three qualities will
have the taste of faith: (One is) that Allah and His Messenger will be dearer
to him than all others. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 21)
Shaykh
Muhammad bin Nasr Marwaji said, "It is impossible to separate between
faith and love. It is very difficult to separate from one another. The
separation of hatred and kufr is not possible. Faith is love itself, nothing
different. Hatred is part of kufr, nothing else. (Tajimu Qadris Salat: 2/741)
Allama
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote about the love of Allah, ‘It is a subject about
which the debaters debate, the wise seek it, the pioneers rush towards it, the
lovers sacrifice themselves in it, the Abedras are enlivened by its softness.
In
the love of Allah, strength of
heart, nourishment of soul and peace of eyes. It is the life-force that
deprives the one who is really dead, the light that loses it as if it is
plunged into the deep darkness of the sea, the cure that loses all the disease
that dwells in his heart, the taste that he has not tasted, and his life is
full of pain. . Allah's love is the essence of faith and deeds. (Madarijus
Salikin: 3/8)
Here
are some Qur'anic verses and hadiths about "love of Allah".
First
of all, the following prayer of the Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasizes the
importance of love of Allah: “O my Lord! Give me your love, the love of those
you love, and all the work that will earn me your love. And make your love
dearer to me than the cold water of a thirsty person's expectation
"(Al-Tirmidhi). In this regard, a man once asked the Prophet Muhammad
(peace be upon him): "When will the Hour (of Judgment) be
established?" The Prophet replied: "What have you prepared for
this?" The man said: "I did not prepare too much for prayer, fasting
or charity, but I love Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet then said:
"You will be with those whom you love." (Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi).
Now,
as mentioned in this verse of the Qur'an, the first characteristic of the
believers is that Allah will love them and they will love Allah. “O you who
believe! Whoever of you turns away from his religion, Allah will create a
nation whom He will love and those who love Him [who] are humble towards the
believers, strong against the disbelievers ... (Qur'an 5:54).

How
can one gain the love of Allah
Subhanahu WA Ta'ala? Allah (SWT) says: “Say [O Prophet], ‘If you love Allah,
then follow me; Allah will love you ... "(Qur'an; 3:31). Therefore, we
should love Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala more than anything else because He has
given us everything we have!
After
loving Allah (swt), our love for our wives is indicated in the following verses
of the Qur'an: "And among His Signs is this: He has created for you
companions from among yourselves, that you may be at peace with them, and He
has established it in your hearts." Love and mercy, surely there are signs
in this for those who reflect. (Qur'an 30:21). For the love of our children,
whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw Fatima (his daughter) he would
welcome her, and get up from his seat and kiss her, and then taking her by the
hand would seat her in his own seat. (Bukhari).
On
the Day of Resurrection Allah will ask: “Where are those who loved one another
for my glory? Today, the day when there is no shadow but me, I shall shade them
with my shade. "(Muslim). Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) added: The
martyrs will envy them on the Day of Resurrection, they are those who love one
another for the sake of the Spirit of God. I swear by Allah, their faces will
be bright and they will be on the pulpit of light. They will have no fear (of
the day) when people will be afraid and they will not be sad on the day when
people will be sad. “Then he recited the verse: “Look! Surely the friends of
Allah have no fear, nor shall they grieve” (Qur'an, 10:62).
