The prayers that start with 'Rabbana' in the Qur'an

Allah Ta'ala addresses the servant in the Holy Qur'an, "Whoever calls Me, I answer his call, whenever he calls." From this instruction, it is understood that whenever people call Allah Ta'ala, plead, point out problems, and seek help from Allah. , that's when Allah Ta'ala responded to the servant's call. Allah Ta'ala has taught many wonderful ways of calling Him in many Surah of the Holy Qur'an like this:

i. رَبَّنَا اطِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

'Rabbana atina fidduniya hasanatau wa fil akherati hasanatau waqina azabannar.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Grant us good in this world and grant us good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of Hell.' (Surah Baqarah: Verse 201)

ii. رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana Afrig Alaina Sabrao Wa Chabbit Akdamana Wangchurna Alal Qawmil Kafirin.'

You may know- Hell or Jahannam | The hell according to Qur'an-Hadith

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Create patience in our hearts and keep us firm; help us against the unbelieving people.' (Surah Baqarah: Verse 250)

iii. رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذۡنَاۤ اِنۡ نَّسِیۡنَاۤ اَوۡ اَخۡطَاۡنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَ لَا تَحۡمِلۡ عَلَیۡنَاۤ اِصۡرًا کَمَا حَمَلۡتَهٗ عَلَی الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَ لَا تُحَمِّلۡنَا مَا لَا طَاقَۃَ لَنَا بِهٖ ۚ وَ اعۡفُ عَنَّا ٝ وَ اغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ٝ وَ ارۡحَمۡنَا ٝ اَنۡتَ مَوۡلٰىنَا فَانۡصُرۡنَا عَلَی الۡقَوۡمِ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana la tuakhizna innasina au akhtana. Rabbana wala tahmil alayna israng kama hamaltu alallajina min qabalina. Rabbana wala tuhammilna ma la takbata lana bihi, wa'fu anna wagfirlana warhamna anta mawlana fanchurna alal qawmil kafirin.'

Meaning: O our Lord! If we forget or make a mistake, don't blame us. O our Lord! And do not assign to us such responsibility as you assigned to those before us. O our Lord! And do not bear by us that burden which we do not have the strength to bear. Forgive us our sins. Forgive us and have mercy on us. You are our Lord. So help us against the infidels. (Surah Baqarah: Verse 286)

iv. رَبَّنَا لَ تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana la tuzig kulubana ba'da iz hadaitaana wa hablana milla dungka rahmatan innaka antal wahhab.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Do not make our hearts crooked after guiding us, grant us mercy from You, indeed You are the Great Giver.' (Surah Al-Imran: Verse 8)

v. رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا امَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana innana amanna fagfirlana junubana waqbina azabannar.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! We have believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of Hell.' (Surah Al Imran: Verse 16)

vi. رَبَّنَا اغحفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوۡبَنَا وَ اِسْرَافَنَا فِیۡۤ اَمْرِنَا وَ ثَبِّتق اَقدَامَنَا وَ انۡصُُرْنَا عَلَی الۡقَوجمِ الۡكٰفِرِیۡ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbanagfirlana junubana wa ishrafana fi amrina wa chabbit aqda mana wangchurna alal qawmil kafirin.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions in our deeds, and keep us steadfast in our sins, and help us against the unbelieving people.' (Surah Al-Imran: Verse 147)

vii. رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّكَ مَنْ تُدْخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدْ اَخزَیْتَهٗ ؕ وَ مَا لِلظلّٰمِيۡنَ مِنْ اَنْصَارٍ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana innaka mang tudkhilin nara faqad akhzaitahu wa ma lijjalimina min anchar.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord, whoever You make to enter the Fire, You will surely insult him. And there is no helper for the oppressors.' (Surah Al Imran: Verse 192)

viii. رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّنَا سَمِعۡنَا مُنَادِیًا یُّنَادِیۡ لِلۡاِیۡمَانِ اَنۡ اٰمِنُوۡا بِرَبِّکُمۡ فَاٰمَنَّا رَبَّنَا فَاغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوۡبَنَا وَ کَفِّرۡ عَنَّا سَیِّاٰتِنَا وَ تَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الۡاَبۡرَارِ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana innana samina munadiai unadi lil imani an aminu birabbikum faamanna. Rabbana fagfirlana junubana wa kaffir anna saiyatina wa tawaffana ma'al abrar.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Indeed, we heard a call to faith, saying, 'Belief in your Lord.' So we believe. O our Lord! Forgive us our sins and remove our faults, and let us die with the righteous.' (Surah Al Imran: Verse 193)

ix. رَبَّنَا وَ اٰتِنَا مَا وَعَدْتَّنَا عَلٰی رُسُلِكَ وَ لَا تُخزِنَا يَوجمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ؕ اِنَّكَ لَا تُخلِفُ الۡمِیۡعَادَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana wa atina ma wa adtana ala rusuliqa wa la tukhzeena yaomal qiyamati innaka la tukhliful miad.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! And give us that which You have promised us through Your Messengers. And do not insult us on the Day of Resurrection. Surely you do not break your promise.' (Surah Al-Imran: Verse 194)

x. رَبَّنَا ظَلَمۡنَاۤ اَنحفُسَنَا ٜ وَ اِنْ لَّمْ تَغنفِرْ لَنَا وَ تَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana Zalamna Anfusana Wa Illam Tagfir Lana Wa Tarhamna Lanakunanna Minal Khashirin.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. And if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, surely we will be among the losers.' (Surah A'raf: Verse 23)

xi. رَبَّنَا لَا تَجوعَلۡنَا مَعَ الۡقَوْمِ الظّلِمِیۡنَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana la taj'alna ma'al Qawmiz Zalimin.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Do not include us among the oppressors.' (Surah Araf: verse 47)

xii. رَبَّنَا افۡتَحۡ بَیۡنَنَا وَ بَیۡنَ قَوۡمِنَا بِالۡحَقِّ وَ اَنۡتَ خَیۡرُ الۡفٰتِحِیۡنَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbanaftah bainana wa baina qawmina bilhakki wa anta khairul fatihin.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord, make the right decision between us and our people. And You are the best judge.' (Surah Araf: verse 89)

xiii. رَبَّنَاۤ اَفۡرِغۡ عَلَیۡنَا صَبۡرًا وَّ تَوَفَّنَا مُسۡلِمِیۡنَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana Afrig Alaina Sabrao wa Tawafana Muslimin.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Grant us complete patience and grant us death as Muslims.' (Surah Araf: Verse 126)

xiv. رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَۃً لِّلۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِیۡنَ وَ نَجِّنَا بِرَحۡمَتِکَ مِنَ الۡقَوۡمِ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana la tazhalna fitnatal lilqaomij jalimina wa najzhina birahmatika minal qaomil kafirin.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! You will not make our oppressors a source of strife; protect us from the disbelievers by Your grace.(Surah Yunus: Verses 85-86)

xv. رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّکَ تَعۡلَمُ مَا نُخۡفِیۡ وَ مَا نُعۡلِنُ ؕ وَ مَا یَخۡفٰی عَلَی اللّٰهِ مِنۡ شَیۡءٍ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ وَ لَا فِی السَّمَآءِ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana innaqa talamu ma nukhfi wa ma nu'linu wa ma yakhfa alallahi min shayyin fil ardi wa la fis-samayi.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord, surely You know what we conceal and what we reveal, and nothing in the heavens and the earth is hidden from Allah.' (Surah Ibrahim: Ayat 38)

xvi. رَبَّنَاۤ اٰتِنَا مِنۡ لَّدُنۡکَ رَحۡمَۃً وَّ هَیِّیٴۡ لَنَا مِنۡ اَمۡرِنَا رَشَدًا

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana atina milladungka rahmatao wa hayi lana min amrina rashada.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Have mercy on us from Your side and correct our actions for us.' (Surah Kahf: Verse 10)

xvii. رَبَّنَا هَبۡ لَنَا مِنۡ اَزۡوَاجِنَا وَ ذُرِّیّٰتِنَا قُرَّۃَ اَعۡیُنٍ وَّ اجۡعَلۡنَا لِلۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ اِمَامًا

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana hablana min azwazhina wa zurriyatina qurrata ayunio wazhalna lil muttakina imama.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Grant us the coolness of eyes on behalf of our wives and our children and make us an example for the righteous.' (Surah Furqan: Ayat 74)

xviii. رَبَّنَا وَسِعۡتَ کُلَّ شَیۡءٍ رَّحۡمَۃً وَّ عِلۡمًا فَاغۡفِرۡ لِلَّذِیۡنَ تَابُوۡا وَ اتَّبَعُوۡا سَبِیۡلَکَ وَ قِهِمۡ عَذَابَ الۡجَحِیۡمِ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana wasita kulla shayir rahmatao wa ilman tagfir lillajina tabu wattabau sabilaka waqbihim azabal jahim.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! You surround everything with Your mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your way, and save them from the punishment of Hell.' (Surah Mu'min: Verse 7)

xix. رَبَّنَا وَ اَدۡخِلۡهُمۡ جَنّٰتِ عَدۡنِۣ الَّتِیۡ وَعَدۡتَّهُمۡ وَ مَنۡ صَلَحَ مِنۡ اٰبَآئِهِمۡ وَ اَزۡوَاجِهِمۡ وَ ذُرِّیّٰتِهِمۡ ؕ اِنَّکَ اَنۡتَ الۡعَزِیۡزُ الۡحَکِیۡمُ ۙ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana wa adkhilhum jannati adnillati wa attahum wa maan salaha min abayihim wa azwazhihim wa zurriyatihim; Innaka Angtal Azizul Hakim.

Meaning: 'O our Lord! And You will admit them to the eternal Paradise, which You have promised them. And among their parents, spouses, and children who have done good deeds. Surely You are the Mighty, the Wise.' (Surah Mu'min: Verse 8)

xx. رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbanakshif annal azaba inna muminun.'

Meaning: O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us, we put our trust in You.' (Surah Dukhan: Verse 12)

xxi. رَبَّنَا اغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَ لِاِخۡوَانِنَا الَّذِیۡنَ سَبَقُوۡنَا بِالۡاِیۡمَانِ وَ لَا تَجۡعَلۡ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِنَا غِلًّا لِّلَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّکَ  رَءُوۡفٌ رَّحِیۡمٌ

Pronunciation : 'Rabbanagfirlana wali ikhwaninallajina sabakuna bill imani wala tajhal fi kulubina gillal lillajina amanu; Rabbana Innaka Raufur Rahim.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! Forgive us and our brothers who have gone before us in faith; And do not harbor any hatred in our hearts for those who believe; Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.' (Surah Hashar: Verse 10)

xxii. رَبَّنَا عَلَیۡکَ تَوَکَّلۡنَا وَ اِلَیۡکَ اَنَبۡنَا وَ اِلَیۡکَ الۡمَصِیۡرُ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana alaika tawakkalna wa ilaika anabna wa ilaikal machir.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord! We trust in You, we turn to You, and to You is our return.' (Surah Mumtahina: Verse 4)

xxiii. رَبَّنَاۤ اَتۡمِمۡ لَنَا نُوۡرَنَا وَ اغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ۚ اِنَّکَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیۡءٍ قَدِیۡرٌ

Pronunciation: 'Rabbana Atmim Lana Noorana Waghfirlana Innaka Ala Kulli Shayin Qadir.'

Meaning: 'O our Lord!, fill our light for us and forgive us; Surely You are powerful in all matters.' (Surah Tahrim: verse 8)
