Islam
The
word "Islam" means "surrender to the will of Allah".
Followers of Islam are called Muslims. Muslims worship a monotheistic and one,
omniscient God, who is called Allah in Arabic. The goal of the followers of
Islam is to live in complete surrender to Allah.
Narrated
Abu Huraira: One day the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sitting with some
people when Gabriel came and asked, "What is faith?" The Messenger of
Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Faith is Allah,
His angels, meeting Him, believing in His messengers, and believing in the
resurrection." Then he asked, "What is Islam?" The Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "To worship Allah
alone and not to anyone else, to perform the obligatory prayers (zakat), and to
fast in the month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan
(perfection)?" The Messenger of Allah, May Allah bless him and grant him
peace, replied, "Worship Allah as if you are looking at Him, and if you
cannot attain this state of devotion, then you must consider that He is looking
at you." Then he further asked, "When will the Hour be established?
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, 'There is no better respondent
than the questioner.
History of Islam
The
history of Islam refers to the history of Islam, the political, social,
economic, and cultural development of Islamic civilization in chronological
order from the origin of Islam to the present time. Most historians acknowledge
that Islam originated in Mecca and Medina in the early 7th century AD. Muslims
return to Islam the core beliefs of prophets like Isa, Solomon, Daud, Moses, Ibrahim,
Noah, and Adam. Muslims believe that Islam originated from antiquity, that is,
from the time of the first man, Adam.

In
610 AD, the Qur'an began to be revealed by Allah to Muhammad, the last prophet
of Islam, which Muslims believe to be Allah's revelation, urging them to submit
to one Allah, wait for the coming final judgment, and take care of the poor and
needy. This message of Muhammad (PBUH) was accepted by a handful of followers
and faced growing opposition from most of the people of Makkah. Muhammad
Yathrib (now known as Medina) emigrated a few years after losing his security
in 622 to the death of his influential uncle Abu Talib. After the death of
Muhammad in 632, Rashidun established a Muslim state during the caliphate.
5 pillars of Islam
Islam
is founded on 5 pillars. Believing, establishing prayers, paying zakat,
performing Hajj, and fasting in Ramadan. Islam is founded on these five
foundations. This is clear from the narration and interpretation of the hadith.
Then-
Hazrat
Abu Abdur Rahman Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)
narrated that I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say:
‘Islam
is founded on 5 pillars - to testify that there is no true god but
Allah and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah.
Establishing prayers. To collect zakat. Performing Hajj in Baitullah and
fasting Ramadan. '(Bukhari and Muslim)
The
5 pillars of Islam are as follows-
Shahada
The
first pillar of Islam is Shahada, the claim of faith. There are two
testimonies: "There is no god but Allah" and "Muhammad is the
Messenger of Allah". This set statement is usually read in Arabic: la
ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah (There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is
the Messenger of Allah). It is essential to pronounce it in order to become a Muslim
and convert to Islam. The first Shahada promotes the essential unity of faith,
declaring that there is no god but Allah. Tawhid is the prayer that says
"there is no god but Allah" is a major element of the Islamic faith,
as it reinforces the monotheistic aspect of Islam and promotes the unity of Allah as the source of existence. The second shahada demonstrates the essential mercy
of Allah. This prayer proclaims Muhammad as the last prophet and uses Muhammad
as the prime example of guidance for all Muslims.
Salah (Prayer)
Establishing
prayers. The second pillar of Islam is Salah or prayer. This is the most
important deed after the testimony of Tawhid and Prophet Hood. Which arrives a
total of five times day and night. This is why it is a strong bond between the
servant and his Lord. Establishing prayers means performing them properly. Before
performing a prayer, ablution is performed with the washing of hands, face, and
feet. A caller is recite a Adan aloud from a high place in the mosque. The
verses of the Qur'an are recited aloud or silently. These prayers are a very
specific type of prayer and a very physical type of prayer called prostration.
These prayers are said five times a day, at certain hard times, the person
faces Mecca. Fajr, noon, afternoon, evening, and night prayers are performed:
The names according to the time of prayers are Fajr (morning), Dhuhr (noon),
Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (evening), and Isha (night).
Zakat (Almsgiving)
The
third pillar of Islam is zakat or charity. To collect zakat. Zakat is a
financial act of worship, which is to be paid once a year. When the year is
full or when the crop is ripe and harvested and its benefits reach others. For
this reason, he has been mentioned before Hajj and Ramadan and after prayers. Zakat
means purification which indicates that the rest of the wealth becomes legal
and religiously pure through the payment of money. Following this pillar, Muslims
must deduct a certain amount of their wealth in order to support the Islamic
community, and this is usually about 2.5% of an individual's wealth. This
practice is not found in the Qur'an, but in the hadith. This tax is used to
take good care of the holy places and mosques of the individual Muslim
community or to help those who are needy or poor.
Sawm (Fasting)
The
fourth pillar of Islam is fasting. Ramadan is observed in the month of Ramadan,
which is a holy month in the Islamic calendar. Using a lunar calendar means the
month of Ramadan is shifted 11 days earlier each year. Fasting is directly
stated in the Qur'an: "Eat and drink until the whiteness of the day is
separated from the blackness of the night at dawn, then complete the fast till
night ...” Fasting takes place every day from dawn to sunset at which time
believers are expected to abstain from any food, drink, sexual intercourse or
smoking. However, after sunset and before dawn, individuals can participate in
any of the actions described above as they wish.
Hajj (Pilgrimage)
The
final pillar of Islam is Hajj or pilgrimage. Performing Hajj in Baitullah. This
is physical and financial worship. Because people observe it themselves, but in
the case where it is permissible to be a representative, the representative
will be enough. In one's life, a Muslim has to make a pilgrimage to Mecca in
the 12th month of the lunar calendar. In this ritual, only 2 white sheets are
worn to travel to Makkah so that all the pilgrims are identical and there is no
class difference between them. During the Hajj, every Muslim man wears the same
dress in simple dress to emphasize their identity. They then circled the
Kaaba seven times and returned to Makkah for the final ceremony and then left
Makkah to return home. Inability to perform Hajj due to physical strength,
economic status, or any other reason is an obligatory excuse for Hajj. The
Qur'an specifically states that only those who are able to make the pilgrimage
should do so. The reason for this journey is to follow in the footsteps of
Prophet Muhammad, as Muhammad did in the hope of gaining knowledge when he was
in the presence of Allah. The knowledge of Hajj is in the Quran.
Conclusion
There
is no chance of entering Islam and living a pure life without first stepping.
And the second, that is, the prayers are similar. Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be
pleased with him) narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be
upon him) say, ‘surely the difference between a person and shirk and kufr is
prayer.’ (Muslim)
And the person who abandons the remaining three pillars of Islam without any excuse, his Islam will be incomplete. And he is in grave perversion and great danger, but he cannot be called a disbeliever because of having other documents. May Allah grant the Muslim Ummah the Tawfiq to lead and establish their lives on the five foundations of Islam?
